Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1Β½ teaspoons baking powder
- ΒΎ teaspoon baking soda
- ΒΌ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1ΒΎ teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ΒΌ teaspoon ground cloves
- 6 tablespoons butter
- ΒΎ cup brown sugar
- Β½ cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.
- In another bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add molasses, egg, and vanilla, mixing well.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
- Divide dough in half, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll out dough to ΒΌ inch thickness on a floured surface. Cut with cookie cutters.
- Place cookies on prepared sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are firm.
- Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Decorate with icing once completely cooled. Enjoy!
